Piano Lessons In The Comfort Of Your Own Home

No commute. No waiting room. No dragging a keyboard back and forth or rescheduling around recital hall bookings. Remi comes to you — right into your living room, bringing patience, a classically-trained ear, and a teaching style built around what actually keeps a beginner motivated: fast wins, real songs, and zero pressure.

Whether it’s a 7-year-old sitting at a keyboard for the very first time, a teenager who wants to learn their favorite songs by ear, or an adult finally getting around to something they’ve wanted to do for years — the piano lessons are built around them, not a rigid curriculum.

  • Zero commute — piano lessons happen in your home, on your schedule
  • Built around you — song choice, pace, and style shaped by the student’s interests
  • Real progress fast — most students are playing a recognizable song on the piano within the first few lessons

Why In-Home Piano Lessons Work

Traditional piano lesson studios ask a lot before a single key is even pressed: driving across town, hauling sheet music back and forth, sitting in a waiting room while the lesson before yours runs long. In-home piano lessons remove all of that friction — which means more consistency, less burnout, and faster progress.

  1. Consistency beats intensity. A student who shows up relaxed, at home, every week — without the stress of a commute — makes faster progress than one squeezing in a rushed lesson between other obligations.
  2. Comfort lowers the beginner barrier. Learning piano means making a lot of wrong notes before making the right ones. Doing that on your own piano or keyboard, without an audience of other students in a waiting room, makes people far more willing to actually try — and to keep practicing between lessons.
  3. Flexible scheduling, real life. Piano lessons fit around family schedules, work shifts, and everything else — not the other way around.

FAQ's

Do you offer piano lessons near me?

Yes — Remi teaches in-home throughout Victoria and the Greater Victoria Area, so there’s no need to search for a studio near you. He comes to your home instead.

A full keyboard with weighted or semi-weighted keys works fine to start — you don’t need an acoustic piano on day one. Remi can advise on what’s worth upgrading to once you know it’s a good fit, and the free trial lesson works with whatever you already have at home.

Most students start with zero experience — that’s the norm, not the exception. Remi’s approach is built around fast wins early on, not theory-heavy fundamentals, so there’s something recognizable to play within the first few lessons.

The trial is a real, full lesson in-home with Remi, no obligation, meant to check fit for both the student and for scheduling — not a sales pitch.

48-hour notice keeps the lesson credit forward to the next month, under 48 hours the lesson is charged. Worth stating plainly here so it’s not a surprise later — transparency here builds trust rather than losing it.

Not at all — recitals are optional, not required. Remi’s lessons focus on building confidence privately first; if and when a student wants to perform, that’s their choice, on their timeline, not a default expectation of the program.

Just click the “Book a Free Trial Lesson” or “Schedule a Free Trial Lesson” button s anywhere on this page.  Alternatively you may goto this Booking Link. You’ll be taken to Remi’s live booking calendar, where you can pick a time that actually works for your schedule — no back-and-forth emails needed. Once you book, you’ll get instant confirmation, and Remi will reach out directly to confirm the details before your lesson.

Your Music Teacher

Remi Hyman - Music Teacher Victoria British Columbia

Remi has been playing piano since the age of 6, learning classical RCM, jazz, and improvisation while taking lessons throughout his formative years — piano has been the foundation of his musical training from the very beginning.

Eventually he pursued a Bachelors at McGill University in Tuba performance and music education, with a focus on music instrument pedagogy and curriculum design — training that shapes how he structures every piano lesson he teaches today. He performed as a multi-instrumentalist with the Canadian Armed Forces, playing in embassies, government functions, churches, parades, and ceremonies.

Subsequently, he found himself teaching at the Borden Military Academy of Music, teaching piano, tuba, musicianship, small ensemble, and theory.

Having moved to the west coast, he is now focused on private studio teaching, with piano as his core instrument alongside guitar and brass — built around the same beginner-friendly, student-first approach across every student he teaches.

Currently, he continues to hone his craft and his interest in music, performing in multiple community bands/orchestras on the North Shore and Victoria on Vancouver Island alongside the likes of entertainment hall of fame award-winning composer and instrumentalist Bob Buckley, Tuba player of the Canadian Opera Company Sasha Johnson, and other outstanding performers.
